Calories from a photo
Snap your plate and AI works out what’s on it, estimates each portion’s weight and counts the calories, protein, fat and carbs. Your first photo is free, no sign-up.

We don’t keep the photo: it’s recognised and deleted right away.
How it works
-
1
Snap your meal
From above so the whole plate is visible, ideally in daylight.
-
2
AI recognises the food
It identifies every food, sauces and oil, and estimates portion weights.
-
3
You get calories and macros
Per item and in total. In the app it goes straight into your diary.
How to make it more accurate
- Put the plate on a kitchen scale after taring it: AI reads the display and splits the weight between the foods.
- Shoot from above and keep other plates out of the frame.
- For complex dishes (soup, a bake) you can describe what’s in it in the app, and AI takes it into account.
- For packaged food, scan the barcode — it beats any estimate.
Questions about calories from photos
How accurate are calories from a photo?
+
AI recognises dishes well; portion weight has an error of up to 15–25%. If the plate is on a kitchen scale, the weight comes from the display and the error is minimal.
Is it free?
+
Your first photo needs no sign-up. After free sign-up you can count calories from photos every day in the food diary, alongside your macro targets.
Are my photos kept?
+
A photo sent without signing up isn’t kept: it’s recognised and deleted right away. In the app only you and your trainer see your meal photos.
Why is it better than calorie tables?
+
No looking up every food or weighing ingredients: one photo and you have the list of foods with calories. Packaged food has a barcode scanner.
Which app counts calories from a photo for free?
+
My app: free after signing up. Calories from a photo of your plate, a barcode scanner, macro targets for your goal and a food diary.
